Located right in the center of Kanazawa, there’s a small walkable street where creative minds get together. Tatemachi street was a marketplace for the samurai almost 400 years ago. Over the years, the street has transformed itself but the same entrepreneurial spirit remains at its core. Often called the entrance to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art Kanazawa, it’s filled with more than 200 one-of-a-kind businesses run by the creative and the curious. From the JR Kanazawa Station

  • Local Bus (Hokutetsu Bus)
    Take a bus from bus stop #3, #8, #9, or #10 at the East Exit Bus Terminal and get off at Korinbo (approximately 10 minutes). From the Korinbo bus stop, Tatemachi Street is a 5-minute walk.
  • The JR Machi-Bus (Runs only on weekends and holidays)
    Take a bus from bus stop #5 at the East Exit Bus Terminal and get off at Katamachi/Tatemachi (approximately 12 minutes). From the Katamachi/Tatemachi bus stop, Tatemachi Street is a 3-minute walk.

From the Komatsu Airport

Take the “Komatsu Airport Limousine Bus” (Approximately 40 minutes) to JR Kanazawa West Exit (Kanazawa Port Exit). Walk to JR Kanazawa East Exit (Kenrokuen Exit) and take any local bus stopping at Korinbo. 

From the Hokuriku Expressway

  • Approximately 20 minutes from Kanazawa Nishi Exit
  • Approximately 20 minutes from Kanazawa Higashi Exit
  • Approximately 20 minutes from Kanazawa Morimoto Exit

  • Parking Fee: Weekdays: 200 yen (60 min) / Weekends and Holidays: 400 yen (60 min) / *After the first hour: 100 yen (30 min)
  • Some stores on Tatemachi Street provide a 1-hour free parking pass for customers with purchases over a certain amount. Please ask the store for more details. (Minimum spend varies by store)
    *The 1-hour free parking pass can only be used in “Tatemachi Parking” and “Katamachi Shopping District Parking.” It cannot be used for “OVAL Parking.”
